The summer ends, the cooler weather gets us in the feels. We are topped up on sunshine and ready for jumpers and fireside chats and icy mornings. The relaxed energy of the summer heads into a new school term, new season, new phase. Let’s be real – September is the new year we all feel in our bodies, right? So to welcome us into the new year let’s have a chat about new things, new phases, and what’s on at Wellness Warriors.
I think it’s all down to support. I have an amazing partner and lots of incredible family and friends who have loved spending time with Finn. This means I can teach yoga, crack out some admin and get things done!
It’s all about nurturing the mothers. What happens when you have a baby is so wild and I’d love to offer some sort of relief. There will be some head massage, moving the body, focusing on the shoulders and the back with all the carrying and feeding that we do. Then we’ll bring in some pelvic floor movements, just keeping it really low key and gentle, working at the level that feels good in your body to bring back a sense of connection and some release and engagement. All the while the babies can cuddle, babble, feed, play with some sensory toys. It’s really relaxed.
It’s a rollercoaster! I am loving it so much, and it has also involved a lot of adjustment in terms of how we live, work, relate, and how much I can get on my surf board. Everything is different!
New things often come with a sense of loss for old things, even when it’s a change you are thrilled about. And that’s ok. We can miss things (like sleep!) and also be so in love with this new baby and new phase of life, excited about what’s happening, or what’s on the horizon.
You plant the seed and water it and grow it, but coming out of the ground can be hard work, and scary. New things come with lots of feelings. Some days are sunshine and flowers and other days can feel windy and overwhelming.
It feels great! I have so much support in my personal life and at the studio with teachers and behind the scenes. We are hoping to be open every Saturday from November onwards which feels really good. It’s important to us to be a space people can pop in and chat, hang out, and with Christmas on the way we’d love to be somewhere people can find thoughtful gifts with a sustainable heart! We also have new classes on the timetable, and some great events coming up this term.
